EFFECT OF PHYSICAL ACTIVATION PROGRAM ON BODY MASS INDEX AND PHYSICAL FITNESS IN SCHOOL

 

ABSTRACT

 

The objetive of this study was to evaluate the effect of a Program National Physical Activation School of the Body Mass Index (BMI) and fitness. The methodology included: a sample of 502 students between 8 and 13 years old in eight public schools. And an intervention group was divided (n=287) and a control (n=215), the first was implemented the PNPAS for six months and both were assessed by pre and post test BMI and physical fitness. The results showed that the intervention group showed a decrease of BMIz and obesity and increased strength in legs. (p‹0.005). They showed no significant changes in BMI, percentage of overweight and cardiorespiratory function in the intervention group or the control group. Physical Activation Program School managed to favorably modify the BMIz , the percentage of obesity and increased strength in the legs of studentes.
