ABSTRACT

Objectives: Winning the net zone is considered a performance indicator in padel, being a direct relationship between time spent at the net and the final game result. The aim of the present study was to analyse those technical-tactical actions that allow padel players winning the net according to the competition level, comparing differences between first Category of Extremadura Padel Federation (CEP) and the professional circuit World Padel Tour (WPT). Methods; A total of 416 approaching actions to the net were randomly selected and recorded (210 from CEP and 206 from WPA) from 14 male 2015 finals games (8 from CEP and 8 from WPT). Results; Main results showed that lob (60%) is the most prevalence technical-tactical actions used to win the net, not finding differences between competitions level. Moreover, there was a direct relationship between approaching to the net by using chiquita and finishing the point in CEP, increasing the likelihood of winning or losing the point when using this action and decreasing continuity options (p<0.05). Discussion; These findings disclose the importance of one on main tactics aim in padel, highlighting how relevant decision-making is when selecting a technical action regarding the spatial location in the court in order to minimize the number of errors. Conclusions: There were no differences between the use and effectiveness of technical-tactical actions used to win the net according to the competition level.
