PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SOCIAL INEQUALITY. TEACHER’S PERCEPTION IN EDUCATION CENTRES AT RISK OF SOCIAL EXCLUSION IN THE NORTH OF THE PROVINCE OF GRANADA.
This research focuses on knowing the teacher’s perception about Physical Education (PE) in relation with its value at school, and specifically in educational centres at risk of social exclusion. In order to reach our target, we carried on semi-structured interviews to PE teachers from five educational centres in Granada city that show high levels of social exclusion. The collected data has been analyzed qualitatively through an information analysis using Nvivo 10 software. The analysis shows that the PE can help to improve the situation of people at risk of social exclusion. Although, it has to be accompanied by other factors such as a good planning of the activities as well as a joint work of all the components that come into play. Besides, it is clear that those changes have to occur from a global approach; an individual action from the PE, even positive, would not reach the desired social transformations.
